In recent years, the transportation industry has developed rapidly. In the future, with the further improvement of information and intelligence, information sharing and intelligent service technologies of various travel modes will be fully developed and applied; Under the background of strong support from national policies and rapid progress of innovative technologies, the upstream and downstream of all branches of intelligent transportation will provide more green,low-carbon, intelligent and convenient innovative applications; The government has actively introduced various policies and regulations to provide policy support and assistance for various industries to participate in the construction of smart transportation. With the advancement of various technologies and the deepening of the concept of the Internet of Things, the intelligent transportation solutions of the country and even the world are gradually rich, with their characteristics and advantages, and electronic paper display technology is also”integrated” into them.
As an ideal display technology recognized in the field of the Internet of Things, the electronic paper does not emit light itself, reflects imaging through the natural light of the environment, and updates the display content with bistable zero power consumption. As an important part of intelligent transportation, more and more cities at home and abroad have established intelligent bus stops, or have combined traditional bus stops with electronic paper display technology to upgrade, to provide the public with real-time vehicle information and news, entertainment, peripheral travel, and other information updates.
Taking China as an example, in addition to Shanghai, which is a typical application case of the national intelligent transportation electronic paper bus stop, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Hainan, Zhengzhou, Nanchang, Suzhou, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Lianyungang, and many other places have been widely used.
In addition to the electronic paper bus stop, the electronic paper smart handle has also been applied in the operation of metro rail transit in many cities, and some subway traffic lines in Shijiazhuang, Nanjing, Nanchang, Dongguan, Changsha, Wuxi, and other cities have been replaced.
According to RUNTO data, a total of about 27,000 pieces of electronic paper smart handles will be installed and used in 2022. It is expected that in 2023, China’s hardware market size of electronic paper intelligent transportation handles will break through the 100 million yuan mark for the first time.
In addition to e-paper bus stop signs and smart handles, e-paper displays can also be used for parking meter displays.
Previously, E Ink and ecosystem partners jointly built e-paper smart meters, using a 6-inch e-paper display, combined with wireless transmission technology to update the information of mobile software systems,and planned to be fully applied in Hong Kong, Kowloon, New Territories, and other regions.
