DKE launches its new DKE FLEX platform, bringing unrivalled flexibility and ruggedness to monochrome and color ePaper displays
Nuremberg, Germany, March 9th, 2026 – DKE, a global leader in ePaper display technology and an E Ink partner, today announced the launch of its new product platform, DKE FLEX. This new category of ePaper displays is the first in the world to be built on organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) on plastic substrates and is suitable for driving all monochrome and color E Ink frontplanes.
The display modules offer unrivalled flexibility and ruggedness, supporting both bending to a small radius and dynamic bending for applications from smart cards to foldable eReaders.
Exclusively offered by DKE for ePaper displays, the technology has already received significant industry recognition, winning the prestigious Component of the Year 2025 Award by the Society for Information Display.
The first product in the new portfolio – a 3.9” OTFT-driven ePaper display – is on the market, based on the technology featured in a consumer device where the screen uniquely wraps around a 180-degree bend.
DKE is collaborating with its partners FlexEnable, which provides the OTFT materials and backplane technology, and E Ink, which supplies the ePaper frontplane material. ePaper displays are renowned in the electronics industry for their day-light readability and low to no power consumption. OTFT backplanes are proven to be three times more rugged than amorphous silicon transistors used in conventional ePaper displays and can be bent to very tight bend radii of less than 2mm.
